The statute of Mahavir in the Munigiri Jinalayam in Karandhai of Kancheepuram district, in a painted ambience stone and stucco casted in the Pallava style is the prime deity in the sanctum of the temple built during the Pallava period. However the
painting in the background is a very recent one.
